Mr. Woolsey started clerking for Fitzhugh, Elliott & Ammerman, P.C. in 2006. He graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in May of 2008 and is now the firm’s newest associate. During his short time with Fitzhugh, Elliott & Ammerman, he has helped clients obtain several favorable results, including:
- Assistance in a successful Fifth Circuit appeal reversing a BRB holding that claimant could invoke the 20(a) presumption to encompass secondary and tertiary conditions. - Assistance in a successful Fifth Circuit appeal reversing a BRB holding that a claimant’s live in paramour was entitled to benefits as a dependent under the LHWCA even though he was married to another woman.
- Settlement of a dangerous LHWCA claim for tens of thousands of dollars under the estimated exposure.
Mr. Woolsey is currently representing several insurance companies in numerous LHWCA claims.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Woolsey worked as an importer and contractor as well as a shipyard welder and sandblaster. He received a more formal maritime education from Texas A&M Galveston, formerly the Texas Maritime Academy, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003.
