Mr. Earles represents clients on a national level. Working with Fitzhugh, Elliott & Ammerman, Mr. Earles has helped his clients obtain a number of favorable results, including:
- Successfully defended a harbor worker’s claim for lifetime compensation and medical benefits stemming from a self-inflicted gunshot wound
- Successfully argued on behalf of a major corporation that the work place injuries of a certain employees are covered by the Public Vessels Act
- Obtained an order reducing attorney’s fees sought under the LHWCA by over $100,000
In addition to his maritime defense work, while in law school, Mr. Earles was a research assistant for Professor Michael Sturley, who was representing seaman Willard Stewart before the U.S. Supreme Court in Stewart v. Dutra Construction Co., a decision that clarified the “vessel” element of the test for seaman status.
